Last season, Korczak scored three goals and 13 assists for the Golden Knights, playing 78 games. On the other end, the Golden Knights are getting a solid puck-moving defenseman in Wotherspoon. The British Columbia native scored 27 assists this past season with the Penguins, marking a career-high and an outbreak season.
Wotherspoon also had 112 blocked shots and 162 hits, making him a valuable two-way defender. The former Penguins defenseman also played for the Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders.
The Golden Knights will only pay Wotherspoon $500,000 for next season, saving $2.75 million in salary cap space. That's a big deal for Vegas, considering they've been in on numerous players in recent memory. Could they pull in Zach Werenski or Dylan Larkin? Stay tuned.
Regardless, the Golden Knights continue to reimagine their roster with cost-cutting moves. It's all part of a bigger plan to make them the center of the hockey universe, angering everyone else in the process. It's good to be the Vegas Golden Knights, eh?
