Remember when the Vegas Golden Knights cut their roster down earlier this week? Well, more roster cuts came about on Tuesday. Now, the Golden Knights have 28 players vying for an Opening Knight roster spot, with the latest trimmings coming to light. The following players are sticking around with the Golden Knights for the last bit of preseason hockey:

Attention, Golden Knights prospects. If your name isn't on the list, you're either dealing with injuries, going to Henderson for training camp, or you're going back to your respective teams. There's always next season.
Still, the Golden Knights are prepping for another season and have their regulars on the roster. You have your usual suspects, such as Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Mitch Marner, and Tomas Hertl. You also have interesting names on the list, such as Antti Tuomisto.
What's even more intriguing is one name cut from the festivities. Granted, he was dealing with a crowded goaltending room and had a rougher climb. However, this Swedish netminder could've stuck around for another game or two. His name is Carl Lindbom and his assignment to the Silver Knights training camp is interesting for a few reasons.
Why Carl Lindbom being sent down to the Henderson Silver Knights is an interesting decision
First, you must look at last season's stats to see what made him stand out. He posted a GAA of 2.16, a save percentage of .926, and three shutouts. Those stats were a dramatic improvement from his 2024-25 statline, when he posted a GAA of 2.65 and a save percentage of .912.
Those stats stand out, especially when you look at his two seasons in HockeyAllsvenskan. He posted a GAA of 1.92, a save percentage of .927, and seven shutouts with Djurgårdens IF and Vasterviks IK. His prior history has shown that he's capable of handling the major league, especially in a hockey hotbed like Sweden.
He also needs more NHL-level reps to build his confidence. Last season, he played eight games for the Vegas Golden Knights, posting a GAA of 3.00 and a save percentage of .873. Those numbers aren't standing out to the average hockey fan. But Lindbom got a reprieve for being a rookie.
Still, more experience is necessary for the goaltender to have a fruitful NHL career. If he gets one or two more games in on the preseason level, that helps his development and gets him prepared against NHL-level talent. Think ahead and have him understand the game better before getting him more reps at the NHL level.
Again. Lindbom was stuck behind a goaltender logjam with Carter Hart and Adin Hill. Lindbom didn't stand much of a chance of making the main roster, especially with Trevor Connelly rising. Still, it wouldn't hurt anybody if the Swedish netminder got a rep or two to prepare himself for his NHL future.
