The Vegas Golden Knights have been in on Dylan Larkin throughout the summer. They've been coined as one of the Detroit Red Wings Captain's preferred destinations, alongside the Minnesota Wild and the Florida Panthers. But with Steve Yzerman's trade requests getting more outrageous, life is becoming impossible for the Wild and the Golden Knights.

Nick Kypreos had that exact sentiment on Wednesday, talking about how the Golden Knights and the Wild didn't have what Detroit was looking for. You can say that their offerings weren't "exciting" enough.

"The Wild and Golden Knights don’t have anything that excites Detroit."

That puts a major damper on the Golden Knights' plans for acquiring another big name. Fans were anticipating a trade with Detroit during the week and they got it. The only problem? It was Keegan Kolesar going to the Red Wings for two draft picks. Yes, that clears up cap space. But that's not what Golden Knights fans are looking for.

Instead, the Golden Knights settled for clearing room for cheaper players such as Parker Wotherspoon and a returning Victor Olofsson. Those aren't bad moves per se, especially when you're trying to save money and get production. However, hardcore fans expect the Golden Knights to anger the sports world and acquire the best players.

Still, there's always time for the Golden Knights to make space and grab more draft picks. Kelly McCrimmon has done phenomenal work in refilling the draft pick portion, giving himself more ammo to develop or trade for players like Larkin. Even if Yzerman acts stubbornly, the Golden Knights general manager can always improvise and sell him on a player or two.

While it's nice to envision such scenarios, the latest Nick Kypreos news puts a major damper on any hopes of getting Dylan Larkin aboard. The Golden Knights will likely hear what will be the Price Is Right losing horn playing throughout the summer. Oh well, there's always March, right?
