Ladies and gentlemen, I have an announcement to make. It appears that Kelly McCrimmon isn't done trading players. After trading players like Pavel Dorofeyev and Kaeden Korczak, the Vegas Golden Knights made a trade with the Detroit Red Wings. No, it wasn't for Dylan Larkin, so slow your roll.
Instead, it was Keegan Kolesar going to the Detroit Red Wings for a 2029 third-round NHL Draft pick and a 2027 seventh-round NHL Draft pick.
Keegan Kolesar traded to Detroit for a 3rd in 2029 and a 7th in 2027.

The move clears up $2.5 million in salary cap space, leaving the door open for a couple of viable options. First, the Golden Knights could pursue a better forward option, particularly a wing, to fill out the bottom-six. Two, they could acquire a veteran winger in a trade to add another key goal-scorer.
Regardless, the Golden Knights continue to cut costs with another trade. First, it was acquiring the cheaper Parker Wotherspoon while having the Pittsburgh Penguins retain 50% of his salary. Now, the Golden Knights save even more money with the latest move, adding two more draft picks in the process.
Kolesar's services will be sorely missed. The Stanley Cup champion scored 44 goals and 76 assists while amassing 1,418 hits. He was especially good in 2024-25, scoring 12 goals and 18 assists.
The Golden Knights continue to make moves, leaving people suspicious of their next actions. The latest move will leave further speculation on what happens, putting Kelly McCrimmon front and center. Hey, he likes the attention, right?
