You know that the temperatures are starting to rise in Las Vegas. Everyone is dreading those summer months where everything melts and nobody can stand to sit in their cars for a minute. Better crank that AC up to the max because those triple digits aren't very forgiving, mate.
Can't wait for the long summer months!
Anyways, the Vegas Golden Knights look like they're melting on the ice right now. Even with the Pacific Division being mediocre, they're on pace to have the worst season in franchise history.
Oh, sure, there have been injuries to key players that tripped the team up. You could think of names like Mark Stone, William Karlsson, and others in this regard. However, that's only part of the story. You can also name Adin Hill and the goaltending as part of the equation, playing below the Golden Knights' standard. In short, you have a team that has regressed so much that there are legitimate doubts of Vegas making the postseason at all.
But let's look at the week that was for the Golden Knights, shall we? That includes unsavory franchise firsts, players returning, and a key player breaking out of his slump in a big way. Here's what was happening in the realm this week.
The Vegas Golden Knights will not have more wins than losses this season
Thursday's loss to the Edmonton Oilers left the Vegas Golden Knights with a franchise first. No, it isn't of the good variety. Instead, it's the team not having more wins than losses in a single season.
That's right. Not even the 2021-22 team could pull this off and they were injured to the bone. Instead, the Golden Knights will settle for having 41 wins topped out at best. Now, the whole league is laughing at Vegas and anticipating the long-awaited downfall of the franchise, licking their chops in the process. Some records and firsts aren't meant to be celebrated in life, it seems.
Carter Hart returns to practice for the Golden Knights
On a more positive note, the Golden Knights were greeted with yet another reinforcement returning to the mix this week. Friday saw him take the ice for Vegas, signaling that he's close to returning to the team.

Yes, Carter Hart might not be the most attractive solution right now. However, the Golden Knights can't do much worse with the current goaltender situation looking abysmal. Why not give him a try and see how he does?
Mark Stone finally wakes up and erupts for two goals
While the Golden Knights might've lost to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, there was a promising development on the top line front. Mark Stone scored two goals for Vegas, emerging from his post-Olympics slumber in a big way.
Fans have worried about the Captain and Jack Eichel since the Olympics concluded. They were concerned that the players were hurt and weren't able to contribute for the rest of the season. However, Thursday's game might be an indicator of things to come for Vegas, bad goaltending and depth scoring be d*mned.
