What Golden Knights fans hope to see from Adin Hill in the 2026-27 season

The Vegas Golden Knights need more from Adin Hill this upcoming season. Here's how the netminder can help them win.

I know what you're gonna say. You want Adin Hill gone entirely from the Vegas Golden Knights roster. Last season was the absolute worst showing that Golden Knights fans saw from the former Stanley Cup hero. Fans watched him post a GAA of 3.04 and a save percentage of .871.

It's safe to say that not many people were enthused about the Calgary native in 2025-26. They called for him and his six-year, $6.25 million AAV deal to be offloaded this summer. They wanted him gone from all existence, never to be heard from again.

Granted, that could still happen with Hill. After all, fans should never doubt the trading abilities of general manager Kelly McCrimmon. However, McCrimmon also instilled some confidence in the controversial netminder, showcasing some serious belief in his 'abilities.'

So, let's delve into this scenario further and see what Hill can do to redeem himself. Yes, I know it's funny to say this since he's been a lightning rod for lower-body injuries. But there's a viable pathway for him to return to form, starting with getting back to basics.

How Adin Hill can return to the good graces of Vegas Golden Knights fans everywhere

Adin Hill had an awful habit of giving up soft goals that he should've stopped. He also had a terrible habit of letting in successive goals in a span of five minutes or less. That frustrated Golden Knights fans to such a degree that they literally called for his head on a silver platter.

Let's start with the obvious: maintain composure after allowing one goal. Take a breather and refresh your mind as quickly as you can. Being a goaltender means that you must have a short-term memory, especially after giving up a goal. Otherwise, you're not going to last long.

That also means using your size to your advantage. Hill is a massive dude, standing at 6'4". He doesn't need to move around much to take up space. All he needs to do is move to one side of the net and cover it. Getting back to basics will help him in the long run.

Hill's bounceback season will help the Golden Knights in more ways than one

Obviously, if you have Adin Hill playing better, you have a better goaltending tandem. Having Carter Hart and Hill picking up the slack goes a long way in ensuring that the Golden Knights don't have a panic attack over allowing goals like they did last season.

But it goes beyond helping the Golden Knights positionally. It also boosts his trade value to numerous teams, easing the pressure off of McCrimmon. Vegas has a loaded goaltender room with Carl Lindbom and Cameron Whitehead waiting for their future opportunities. Hill's re-emergence gives them a chance to get more NHL reps and set up a trade.

Of course, a Hill injury does that, too. However, that's something that Golden Knights fans would prefer not to see. If that were the case, they'd be pulling their hair out to look like Mark Stone. You'd rather have the Hill locks in place instead of having the Captain's hairline, trust me.
