Of course, you have your standard names such as Jack Eichel, Mitch Marner, and the newly extended Mark Stone. These players are essentially shoo-ins to make the roster by September's end. However, there are plenty of other intriguing names.
For example, PuckPedia gave its lineup card that featured... Trevor Connelly in the 12-forward group? Yes, your eyes don't deceive you. The former first-round pick is projected to be the third-line left winger, joining Stone and Tomas Hertl on the line. Believe it or not, this makes sense on many levels.
First, Alexander Holtz has been a monumental bust and hasn't lived up to his young-stud billing. Second, Connelly lit the AHL world on fire with 14 goals and 35 assists last season, helping the Henderson Silver Knights reach the Calder Cup playoffs. There are plenty of reasons that this is finally the year that the native of Tustin, California, breaks through.
But let's delve deeper into the training camp news. What can we learn about the start of this wondrous holiday (well, it should be, at least), where Golden Knights fans can flood City National Arena to see the boys practice and train?

Okay, so Connelly wouldn't be as surprising. But are you surprised to see Victor Olofsson on the fourth line? Yes? Okay, maybe that's not the best example, although the Swedish winger identifies as a shoot-first sniper. He did have an incredible Vegas residency in 2024-25, after all.
The winger scored 15 goals and 14 assists during that season, with six goals coming on the power play. Considering that he's returning at a low price, the Golden Knights are getting an underrated shooter on the lower units. How Swede it is (dad joke for you)!
But that's not the only lesson. You must also enjoy the hockey that's coming this week. Look, everyone's dealt with the overbearing heat wave that took Las Vegas by storm (although it happens every year, let's be honest).
