Vegas Golden Knights fans were waiting for the news to be announced, or at least, anticipating it. They weren't as thrilled about Rasmus Andersson signing a seven-year extension worth $8.5 million AAV. Still, the deal happened and the Golden Knights have the last remaining defenseman locked up for 2026-27.
While that sounds nice, the production wasn't exactly sound during his Vegas residency. The defenseman only scored seven goals and 10 assists with the Golden Knights in 33 games. Furthermore, his playoff production was paltry, only producing six assists during the playoff run.
Still, the hope is that the puck-moving defenseman will turn things around with the Golden Knights. He will turn 30 in October, locking in the Golden Knights' current playoff core. Will that result in a fruitful rebound for Vegas? Stay tuned.
Regardless, the news has finally been outed to the public. Many have dreaded it based on the recent production with the defenseman. But the new deal is a chance for him to prove those doubters wrong.
