As a Vegas Golden Knights fan, I love traveling. Specifically, I love going to different countries and checking out the local scenery and landscape. It clears my mind and helps me forget about the chaotic nature of life.
In the past year, I've traveled to Romania and Canada. I've even stayed overnight in Germany and chilled out before heading home. Checking out different places such as Salina Turda and Whistler Blackcomb has helped my mental health improve dramatically.
So, what about seeing the Golden Knights from a different location? No, I'm not talking about them playing out in these three countries. Instead, I'm talking about pulling up to a restaurant or a pub to take in a hockey game on your phone (Of course, it helps to have a VPN).
I've been exploring these three countries as a means to get out of America for a week. These three countries, armed with the ideal pubs and restaurants for viewing, are perfect for the traveling NHL fan to experience life at its fullest. Here's where I'm going (and where you should go, too).
1.) Ireland
So I was checking out flights to Dublin and wanted to see what I could get from flying into Ireland for a week. I looked at the local pubs in town and saw Mulligan's stand out from the rest. Apparently, this pub has been around since 1854, dating back centuries. In fact, its promotion goes a little something like this:
"No-nonsense 18th-century pub with a cast of regulars and lack of modern pomposity."Mulligan's Instagram
Imagine going to this pub on a Sunday or Nevada Day to watch the game. You could grab a Guinness beer, channel your inner Irishman, and drink beer while watching hockey overseas. Wouldn't that be a spectacle?
2.) Germany
The same premise applies here. Go to a Hofbrauhaus in Munich (or Las Vegas if you don't want to pay $1,000 for a plane ticket) and watch the Golden Knights play hockey on your phone.
I specifically said this pub not just because it dates back to 1589. It also has excellent pretzels and a fried pork knuckle. A fried pork knuckle!
All you have to do is endure the treacherous, complicated airport in Munich and you're on your way home!
3.) Sweden
Wirstrom's Pub in Sweden is the place I'm eyeing here. No, it isn't just because Sweden is a hockey hotbed. It's also because Wirstrom's shows other sports such as rugby (men's and women's).
Imagine William Karlsson playing rugby. He'd be playing both ends of the ball and making plays. What better way to pay homage to the Original Misfit than by watching a hockey (or rugby) game in his honor?
Cue Dancing Queen!
