The Vegas Golden Knights kicked off their two-game road trip the same way they finished their three-game homestand: with a blowout loss. On Wednesday, they lost to the St. Louis Blues by a 6-2 score, with Dylan Holloway scoring twice and Joel Hofer making 27 saves. For the visiting Golden Knights, Jack Eichel scored his first goal in three games, while Brett Howden tallied his fifth. In goal, Adin Hill suffered his first loss of the season, surrendering six goals on 31 shots for a .806 SV%.

Win: Jack Eichel inches closer to 20 points in October

In the third period, Vegas leading scorer Eichel scored his sixth of the year to get the Golden Knights within a goal of the Blues at 3-2. Through 12 games, Eichel has 19 points and remains comfortably ahead of the pace needed to reach 100 points. Although it's still early, another 90-point campaign appears well within reach, especially if the Golden Knights get back to their winning ways.

Sin: Adin Hill has a sloppy game in St. Louis

Right now, Golden Knights fans must be really confused. Going into the new season, Carter Hart appeared to be the team’s top choice in goal, but quietly, Hill remained undefeated in his starts, while his partner went 4-3-0 with an .888 SV%. In a reversal of fortunes from late last season, Hill was outproducing Hart in almost every category until his crash-and-burn performance in St. Louis. After giving up six goals on 31 shots, Hill earned his worst SV% numbers since Mar. 1, 2026 (.773 SV%), while surrendering his first six-goal game since Jan. 25, 2026 (seven vs. Ottawa).

Sin: Where’s the Golden Knights' intimidating attack?

During their three-game winning streak, the Golden Knights tallied 17 goals, while giving up just six. But now, in back-to-back games, Vegas has given up 12 goals while scoring just four. Tonight’s loss marked the first time since the 2023-24 season that the Golden Knights surrendered six goals in back-to-back games following a 7-2 loss to Buffalo (Mar. 2, 2024) and a 6-3 loss to Columbus (Mar. 4, 2024). Interestingly, the Blue Jackets are next on the schedule on Saturday night.

Sin: Where is Tomas Hertl?

In the fourth game of the season, Tomas Hertl went off with two goals and four points, but then he lost his linemate Victor Olofsson to injury. Although he had two shots on goal against the Blues, the 32-year-old now only has two points (a goal and an assist) in his last eight games. When Eichel, Mark Stone, and Mitch Marner aren't producing, the Golden Knights need their secondary scorers to step up, and Hertl is one of the players they're counting on.

What’s next for the Golden Knights?

After departing St. Louis, the Golden Knights will head to Columbus for a matchup with the Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Right now, Columbus sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with just three wins in eight games.
