A terrific week for points (six) was capped off by a penalty shot goal by Jack Eichel. It was the game-tying goal that was awarded to the superstar center after he crashed into the net by someone else. It went a little something like this.
Now that's what a leader is supposed to look like. An effortless goal that shows how composed and relaxed he is in the moment. Eichel's penalty shot goal was just *chef's kiss*.
Overall, it was a solid week for the center as he had six points (two goals and four assists). That Toronto contest from Thursday saw him score a goal and an assist, leading the Golden Knights to a 4-3 shootout victory.
So, where does Eichel stand in his pursuit of 100 or more points? Will he hit the century mark this season and how much have his odds improved? The Eichel Tracker takes a look at where the superstar currently stands in his quest for Golden Knights history. Honestly, he's in a good place.
Eichel gets stymied by the Los Angeles Kings, but has a massive game against the Seattle Kraken
On Saturday, Eichel had a chance to add to his point total against the Los Angeles Kings. While he did notch four shots on goal, the Olympic gold medalist came away with no points. That was a temporary halt in the action as Eichel continues his trek to become the first Golden Knights player with 100 or more points.
However, it was Tuesday's game against the Seattle Kraken that kept his hopes afloat. A four-point performance by the center (one goal and three assists) led the Golden Knights to a 6-2 victory over Seattle.
On top of that, Eichel is second in the NHL in points (12). Edmonton Oilers wunderkind Connor McDavid stalled in Saturday's 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks by producing only one assist, putting himself atop the leaderboard.
Where does Eichel go from here after a productive week?
Now this is where things get interesting. The Golden Knights face a tough Minnesota Wild team on Monday and follow that up with a back-to-back against a tricky Nashville Predators team. That short, yet testy, road trip could limit Eichel's output for the week.
However, he does have a game on Thursday against the Calgary Flames, a team that he's thrived against. He has 21 points (nine goals and 12 assists) in 21 career games against the Pacific Division brethren, with seven points coming in his last three games.
He follows that up with a Saturday game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he has 19 points (10 goals and nine assists) in 21 games. If all goes well, those could be multi-point games that put him on a fast track to the century mark.
As it stands, Eichel's projected to score 41 goals and 123 assists this season (164 points). But an overachievement in points for the week can completely change matters. Thus, the upcoming week is of the more crucial weeks for Eichel's pursuit of the century mark.
