Ladies and gentlemen, college football officially starts today. That means the Big 10 will look at different schools to recruit into their massive conference in pursuit of hegemony and gluttony. And people said that the Vegas Golden Knights were bad for hockey.
Anyway, that also means that August is close to being in the rearview mirror. Soon, Las Vegas will cool off from the scorching heat. That also means that everyone's favorite time of the year will be back.
Also coming soon are fans packing T-Mobile Arena for Golden Knights games. They'll be preparing for another fun season at The Fortress, where Las Vegas's favorite hockey team will grace the ice in hopes of getting another Stanley Cup. 'Tis the season to be hockey fans once again and not watch baseball inch closer to a lockout.
Still, everyone's wondering what happened in the Realm this week. Funny enough, there were plenty of news items to keep people occupied. That included a Hart Memorial trophy winner formally requesting a trade. And no, that player isn't Connor McDavid.

Connor Hellebuyck shook the NHL world down to its very core by publicly stating his intentions to be traded. The Olympic gold medalist privately held conversations with the Winnipeg Jets for months about his request before going public, leaving some fans to naturally speculate about the Vegas Golden Knights as being a potential suitor.
Now, I know that some dude with a bald eagle as a profile pic might poo-poo the idea because he's older and has a gossamer contract. Understandable. But the Golden Knights did have a certain Flower around who gave them the team's only Vezina Trophy winner. Just throwing t out there that Kelly McCrimmon knows how to make things work when you least expect it.
The NHL gives the Golden Knights 15 nationally televised games
It's no secret that the Vegas Golden Knights have become a big draw in the NHL. They routinely hit the Top Five in attendance capacity and have become one of the most successful franchises in the past decade.
So, why not give them 15 nationally televised games to work with for the 2026-27 season? That includes a December 16 matinee against every teenage girl's heartthrob, Macklin Celebrini, and the San Jose Sharks, and the Stadium Series game at AT&T Stadium against the Dallas Stars. Prepare your palate for plenty of Golden Knights action, dear reader.
Daily Faceoff thinks the Vegas Golden Knights will regress in 2026-27
It's hard to win a championship after coming just short of the prize the season prior. So many teams either fall back in the playoff race or fall out altogether. Just ask virtually every Super Bowl loser in recent memory.
That's what makes the Golden Knights an interesting case. Daily Faceoff cited Vegas as one of the teams expected to fall back in the upcoming season. Of course, it's tough when you have a new coach and you lost a top goal-scorer. But crazier things have happened.
Who knows? Vegas might pull the trigger on Connor Hellebuyck or Dylan Larkin.
