Sunday was an electric time to be a hockey fan. We're talking about Brady Tkachuk taking his talents to South Beach to join his thumb brother, Matthew Tkachuk, to play for the Florida Panthers. Unfortunately, that left the Vegas Golden Knights on the outside looking in as they missed out on one of the thumb brothers.
So, where does that leave Kelly McCrimmon? Well, he must turn to the rumored associate known as Dylan Larkin. David Pagnotta talked about the Golden Knights' shift in philosophy on Coming In Hot, bringing up the possibility of getting the Detroit Red Wings superstar.
"I know Vegas was in the mix [for Brady Tkachuk], and they may pivot now to Dylan Larkin."David Pagnotta
Of course, this is nothing new for the Golden Knights. Larking has expressed a desire to make Las Vegas one of his next destinations. The bad news? Vegas has some serious competition in the works.
That includes the Dallas Stars, who are seriously considering the Olympic gold medalist. Imagine what a team like Dallas could do with a great two-way forward in their lineup. It would make them the de facto favorites in a loaded Central Division.
Knowing Kelly McCrimmon, he desires to be the most selfish person in the room. He wants to make the biggest deals possible and ensure that the Golden Knights are constantly angering the NHL universe with ball-busting moves.
Acquiring Larkin would achieve that, giving the Golden Knights more depth down the middle. But who would be the player who goes? Would it be Tomas Hertl or William Karlsson? What about Adin Hill? Pavel Dorofeyev? Knowing McCrimmon, he's never one to shy away from a big deal.
Therefore, don't be surprised if the Golden Knights general manager works his salary cap magic to bring in the Olympian. The Golden Knights are looking to take the next step after falling two games shy of their second Stanley Cup. What better way to make that happen than by bringing on Eichel's Olympic buddy (and Hanifin's)?
