The Vegas Golden Knights lost the Stanley Cup Final to the Carolina Hurricanes in six games. That has brought out the numerous haters from the woodwork, with many celebrating Vegas's loss like it was Christmas. But that brought something to light: everyone hates Vegas.
It doesn't matter if general manager Kelly McCrimmon cooks William Karlsson over a skewer or if he sacrifices puppies to gain more power. The Golden Knights aren't well-liked in the hockey community. Honestly, McCrimmon doesn't care.
"I think it’s jealousy, and people are uncomfortable admitting we’ve done a hell of a job."Kelly McCrimmon
The Golden Knights general manager also added that people can't explain why the Golden Knights win as much as they do. But it's an old addage that must be reiterated during these trying times: haters gonna hate.
Yes, the Golden Knights lost the Stanley Cup Final. Yet, that hasn't stopped the haters from going after Vegas in every way possible. They will celebrate on Facebook groups while masking their favorite team's own shortcomings (see Toronto) in a fit of jealousy.
Perhaps their organization doesn't have the guts to keep a coach relieved of his duties from interviewing with other teams (except for one)? Maybe they don't have the gumption to go after the biggest names in the industry. Whatever the case, the Golden Knights will continue winning and aim for their second Stanley Cup.
After all, it beats being an overrated franchise that hasn't seen a Stanley Cup since 1967. Heck, it beats being an overrated franchise that hasn't been to a championship game since 1996. You can say that life is good in Las Vegas and it's all thanks to McCrimmon.
