An Original Misfit came back to haunt the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2

I know plenty of Golden Knights fans who were some expletives away from cursing this Original Misfit out during Game 2.

Believe it or not, William Carrier had a strong Thursday night for the Carolina Hurricanes. The Original Misfit had an assist on a crazy Mark Jankowski goal and even lit up the HockeyStatCard side of things. Just look at how he performed in Game 2 against his former team.

There he is, sitting atop the player stat card for the Hurricanes. Mind you, he also added a blocked shot and seven hits, impacting the game in more ways than one. However, one thing was apparent: Carrier was looking for some revenge against his former team, the Vegas Golden Knights.

Lo and behold, he gets it for one night as the Hurricanes overcame a 2-0 deficit of their own to win Game 2. That included a hectic third-period, where Carolina scored three straight goals in under six minutes. Again, be sure to send your regards to the Original Misfit for bringing his, well, Misfit magic, Raleigh.

Suddenly, Golden Knights are on notice again. They remember all the hard hits he delivered while he was on the Golden Knights. They suddenly remember why he was so impactful on the fourth line, playing incredible grind-it-out shifts while in Vegas.

William Carrier will be one underrated factor for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas Golden Knights fans will remember the incredible board play that Carrier formerly brought to the team. He was renowned for punishing opponents here, even engaging in ferocious puck battles to win back possession. A good forecheck, hard-hitting abilities, and fantastic grit made him one-of-a-kind on the Golden Knights.

Just look at the 1,116 hits he amassed during his seven seasons with the team. He did excellent work in providing a spark for the Golden Knights, setting the tone for them. But now? He's carrying that over to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Sure, the hitting has cooled off for Carrier since he only has 328 hits in two seasons with Carolina. However, he's still providing those tough board battles and intense forechecking. Therefore, the Golden Knights must account for him whenever he's on the ice.

Perhaps foiling his wraparound opportunities will be something to consider. Maybe that means keeping the space in front of Carter Hart clean. But one thing's certain: the Golden Knights haven't forgotten about their ol' Original Misfit friend.

That could mean seeing Keegan Kolesar emerge in the series. Heck, even throw Ivan Barbashev out there for more hits and punishing blows. It'll bring the depth conversation to the forefront, with Carrier front and center. Therefore, don't sleep on the ol' Misfit.
