Not long ago, I talked about being a Vegas Golden Knights fan and going to New York City. Mind you, I'm heading to the Big Apple this week for Saturday Night's Main Event, where everyone's favorite wrestler will take the stage. No, I'm not talking about Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns. I'm referring to Danhausen.
Very nice, very evil. That's what sports entertainment should be all about, my friends. Cursing the Miz and leading the New York Knicks to their first NBA title in over 50 years. Again, very nice, very evil.
But you might not like the price tag that comes with going to New York. After all, legacy cities like the Big Apple tend to carry massive price tags. Therefore, you're looking to find something a little more... affordable.
So why not consider these three alternatives for a hockey trip? They won't be on the hockey docket for this season, personally. However, it's worth considering these three cities as a nice pivot to taking out a mortgage for the Empire State. After all, there's no better way to celebrate the NHL's schedule release than by planning your trips accordingly.
1.) San Jose
I know the Sharks are on the up-and-up with every 20-year-old girl's favorite hockey player, Macklin Celebrini. But it's worth going out in December to check out the Shark Tank being rebuilt into a tough place to play in again.
Besides, if you're not a fan of being caught in a blizzard, what better place to go to a hockey game than in... sunny California? At least it isn't near Hollywood, where the most insufferable people tend to live. People in Northern California tend to be pretty chill, except when it comes to Golden Knights fans. So, bring a 49er jersey with you, even if you don't like the team.
2.) Seattle
The Kraken are trying their hardest to become the NHL's version of the Seattle Mariners and consistently be in the hotel chair by the bed. They've made mid moves to ensure that their roster remains out of the playoff picture for years to come. Howard Lincoln would be so proud.
But Seattle remains an intriguing city in which to watch a hockey game. You get a taste of the Pacific Northwest area (Vancouver was awesome, mind you) and can enjoy hockey in a peaceful city. Still, Seattle tends to be somewhat hostile towards Golden Knights fans as well, so... bring a Niner jersey to rile them up even more.
3.) Salt Lake City
Six hours (roughly) from Las Vegas, Salt Lake City might seem a lot colder than the other two cities mentioned. But you still can't go wrong with checking out Delta Center for a hockey game.
Ryan Smith has put in tremendous work to make Salt Lake City into a viable hockey city. That's why names like Vincent Trocheck came over to the team. They see the potential in Utah as a hockey destination. You should see it as well, although Utahns aren't too keen with Golden Knights jerseys (they traded Vegas jerseys for Utah jerseys, you know). So... bring a Jazz jersey.
