The Vegas Golden Knights are one of two teams in NHL history, along with the New Jersey Devils, to win the Stanley Cup without ever producing a 100-point player. In addition, the Golden Knights remain one of six clubs that have never had one, joining the Seattle Kraken, Utah Mammoth, Columbus Blue Jackets, Nashville Predators, and Devils.
Moreover, just like their New Jersey rivals, the Golden Knights have been fortunate enough to have future Hall of Famers in their lineup over the years. At this point, it only seems inevitable that someone will be the first 100-point player; it’s just a matter of when it will happen.
Which Golden Knights player will produce the team’s first 100-point season?
The long shot: Mark Stone
Unfortunately for captain Mark Stone, injuries have prevented him from reaching his potential in the NHL. Despite being a sixth-round pick in 2010, he’s blossomed into an eight-time 20-goal scorer and leader of a Stanley Cup-winning team. Last year, Stone tied a career high of 73 points, something he achieved in just 60 games. Considering that he’s entering the final season of his deal, if healthy, and with a little help from his teammates, Stone could break through and achieve a franchise first, but it’s a long shot.
The contender: Mitch Marner
It took Mitch Marner nine seasons to reach 100 points, despite coming close on three separate occasions. The two-time 30-goal scorer has more than double the assists (576) than goals (245) in his career, which means if he’s to crack 100 points for the Golden Knights, someone will be the beneficiary of many passes. At just 29 and with seven seasons left on his current deal, Marner is one of the leading candidates to reach this milestone and gave Vegas fans a glimpse of brilliance during last year’s Cup run with 29 points in 22 games.
The chosen one: Jack Eichel
The Golden Knights moved heaven and earth to acquire Jack Eichel from the Buffalo Sabres in 2021, and the second overall pick from 2015 hasn’t disappointed since arriving in Vegas. After a sluggish start with 25 points in his first 34 games, he soon was producing at a point-per-game pace. In 2024-25, Eichel set the franchise record with 94 points, thanks to 28 goals and 66 assists.
Then, he helped Stone score over 20 goals last year for the first time in eight seasons and finished the campaign with 90 points to become the franchise’s first two-time 90-point player. Even with Marner in the lineup, Eichel is the odds-on favorite to become the first player to score 100 points for the Golden Knights, a feat deserving for the fifth-leading scorer in team history.
