What is the longest winning streak in Vegas Golden Knights history?
One would figure the Vegas Golden Knights would have a lofty winning streak given their success. Here's where that record stands.
Want to go streaking? Want to have some fun, Vegas Golden Knights-style? Well, dear reader, we're not doing THAT type of streaking. So get your mind out of the gutter. Instead, we're looking at the longest winning streaks in franchise history. One would figure the Golden Knights would have some lengthy runs during the team's tenure.
After all, you don't win a Stanley Cup without names like Adin Hill and Mark Stone making an incredible impact. It doesn't matter if such players score a clutch first-period goal or make an outstanding save in the Stanley Cup Final. Hockey is a game of inches, which can determine how long a winning streak goes. It could even net you a championship.
However, this type of streaking isn't one that's overly vulgar. Instead, it's a more wholesome segment which highlights how efficient the team has been during its franchise history. After all, it's not easy stringing together wins during the regular season.
Just ask middling teams like the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks. It's a near-impossible task to achieve, especially when your team's stuck in the middle of a rough rebuild. Imagine trading your best player when you're riding a hot wave. Yikes. Anyways, here's the longest winning streak in Golden Knights history.
The Vegas Golden Knights went on a franchise-record 10-game winning streak during the 2020-21 season
Surprisingly enough, the longest winning streak in Vegas Golden Knights history didn't happen during the Stanley Cup-winning season. They did go on a nine-game winning streak during the championship year. Still, the longest string of wins came during the COVID season, A.K.A. 2020-21.
The winning stretch started on April 9, 2021 against the Arizona Coyotes. Here, they bested the now-defunct squad, 7-4. That streak went until those same Coyotes defeated Vegas on April 30 by a score of 3-0. Still, the Golden Knights went on a long run that ran through most of April, thanks to stars like Mark Stone. Who did they take down in the process?
- April 9 over the Arizona Coyotes (home), 7-4
- April 11 over the Arizona Coyotes (home), 1-0
- April 12 over the Los Angeles Kings (away), 4-2
- April 14 over the Los Angeles Kings (away), 6-2
- April 16 over the Anaheim Ducks (away), 4-0
- April 18 over the Anaheim Ducks (away), 5-2
- April 19 over the San Jose Sharks (home, SO), 3-2
- April 21 over the San Jose Sharks (home), 5-2
- April 24 over the Anaheim Ducks (away), 5-1
- April 28 over the Colorado Avalanche (home), 5-2
Vegas had an evenly-balanced total of five wins for home and away games during that stretch. Only one went to a shootout, which was April 19 against the Sharks.
Golden Knights fans are hoping for another long streak to go through a chunk of the regular season. That means superstars like Mark Stone can't be the only players carrying the load. Adin Hill must chip in along with others, including Zach Whitecloud. If that happens, Vegas could break records... and win another title.
