The NFL trade deadline came and went, seeing numerous teams make moves. Vegas Golden Knights fans know that Kelly McCrimmon had that itch to make a move or two, salary cap be d*mned. However, some teams didn't make moves on Tuesday.
For example, John Lynch was quiet, hesitating to part with high draft picks. The Detroit Lions also didn't make significant moves despite a gaping opportunity to get Trey Hendrickson alongside Aidan Hutchinson. Again, you know that McCrimmon's got an itchy finger to make a move or two...
But that goes back to the Golden Knights and how aggressive they've been over the years. Yesterday was the four-year anniversary of the Golden Knights acquiring Jack Eichel (who got an eight-year deal, mind you). Vegas also acquired big names like Tomas Hertl and Mitch Marner, turning them into Stanley Cup contenders.
Believe it or not, there's a lesson to be learned from making the right moves. Sometimes, you need to take a chance and make that move you've always wanted. After all, everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear, right?
What can Vegas Golden Knights fans learn from Kelly McCrimmon and Bill Foley on being aggressive?
Last year, I was stuck in a rut. I was making peanuts as a customer service rep, barely paying my bills. I also had intensive work done on my car, leaving me to explore other options. Granted, I didn't hate my job. I loved it.
The people there were excellent and made me feel like I was a part of the family. The people were friendly (for the most part) and it was a cozy job. The problem was that I needed to level up my life. That meant stepping out of my comfort zone and being more aggressive.
Like McCrimmon, I searched for the best outcome possible. That's when I got a call for a work-from-home reporter gig that changed my life. Lo and behold, I get it and I've enjoyed it ever since. Sure, there are stressful days where the work feels overwhelming. However, I wouldn't trade it for anything else, especially since I can hang out with my cat.
So, here's some advice for your day. Go big like Bill Foley. Make the move you've always wanted to make. Go for that job you've wanted. Buy the house you've always wanted to live in.
Whatever the case, make that move today. It'll be a massive difference between feeling like you won the Stanley Cup like Bruce Cassidy and Eichel and feeling like you've been eliminated like the Sabres.
