Not many people expected Jeremy Lauzon to stick around and get a six-year contract extension. At least, that's when you compare that to the "handshake agreement" that Rasmus Andersson has with the Vegas Golden Knights. Yet, here we are. It looks like Kelly McCrimmon is filling out that blue line as we speak.
Still, the Golden Knights will be saying some goodbyes during the start of Wednesday's free agency period. One of those rumored names is Reilly Smith, the Original Misfit who did something extraordinarily rare: he returned for a second Golden Knights stint.
Card subject to change, but right now, expectation is Reilly Smith will hit the open market Wednesday.

The Original Misfit is 12 games shy of 1,000 and would love to re-sign with the Golden Knights to reach that mark, but not likely at the moment. We'll see where it goes.
It's sad because Smith deserved to hit that 1,000-game mark with the Golden Knights. It was the franchise that gave him a chance when not many teams did, putting him on the map as a solid two-way winger. The worst part? He came back on a smaller deal and even got a contract extension last season.
Alas, it's a business and you can't cling to memories. Just look at what happened with Jonathan Marchessault when he wanted a five-year deal with the Golden Knights. Kelly McCrimmon didn't budge and the Original Misfit moved on to Honky Tonk land to join the Nashville Predators.
In fact, that's something that we can all look forward to in life. Sometimes, we need a fresh start in life and to put the past behind us. That could consist of moving somewhere else or putting yourself out there for another person.
Whatever the case, don't be afraid to take that fresh start up. After all, you don't want to spend your one life stuck in the rut. You want to live it to the fullest and ensure that you're being your best self.
