Wednesday "Knight" wisdom about... realignment

Sometimes, life throws the biggest obstacles and challenges in front of you. How will you overcome them?

Life was never meant to be easy. If that were the case, the Vegas Golden Knights would go 82-0-0 and win the Stanley Cup every season. In turn, life would be mundane for everyone involved. Winning would be as boring as watching a dynastic NFL team win nearly every game (except for the fanbase rooting for said team, of course).

Most Golden Knights fans wouldn't mind this dream, though. They'd prefer to dominate the league and taste the delicious tears of all naysayers and haters. Edmonton Oilers fans wouldn't know what to do after seeing Jack Eichel score for the millionth time. Would they cry themselves to sleep in their Connor McDavid jerseys?

As for Sharks fans? Well, there's still that Josh guy from San Francisco who'll wait for the team's downfall like a dog waits for his owner to come home. It looks like this isn't the year, mate. Check back at a later date.

Sadly, that 82-0-0 dream isn't reality. In fact, the Golden Knights have lost three of their last four games. Bruce Cassidy has openly called out his team, stating that their recent play "isn't Golden Knights hockey."

So what can fans learn about realigning themselves? What are the main takeaways to getting back on the winning track and living a better life? These tips could help Cassidy's club get back on the right path and continue dominating the NHL. Let's look at a small tip on realigning yourself and shifting your focus.

What realigning our focus will teach us

Currently, I'm reading the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. It's a book that hits hard on paradigm shifts and realigning your thoughts. Sometimes, seeing things in a different light can help you do better at a work task. It can also bolster your relationships, bringing passion and love back into your life.

Personally, it's made tedious tasks much easier to tackle. For example, I was stuck filling out reports and searching for cases for my other job. It took a few hours to wrap everything up and focus on a feature. However, a paradigm shift (albeit accidental) made my job easier. How? By simply taking away one number in my search.

Suddenly, I had an overhead view of 10 cases in front of me. It helped me decipher which cases I could report and which ones I could exclude. Adaptability is a major part of improving in life, as is learning. It's something Bruce Cassidy and the Vegas Golden Knights can use to their advantage, particularly to get off to faster starts.

That starts with players other than Pavel Dorofeyev contributing to the cause. Of course, the Russian forward (five goals and one assist in his last two games) can continue grooving along. However, players like William Karlsson (one assist in January) and Brett Howden (two assists in January) must step up. That will help Vegas get back to the ass-kicking ways they've been accustomed to doing.

Sometimes, all it takes is a simple paradigm shift to unleash the attack again. That could come in the form of a lineup shake-up. That could come in changing your strategy to approach the game differently. Whatever the case, staying in a fixed mindset won't help you win in life. Therefore, take the time to realign yourself and make the necessary changes to win.
