Thanksgiving is synonymous with eating... lots of eating. It's also associated with American football, where fans will watch the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys take on their biggest rivals or the best teams.
Normally, Vegas Golden Knights fans aren't as interested in watching football unless it's their NFL team. They're waiting for the turkey to come out so they can gorge on the food. I mean, who wants to watch the Dallas Cowboys crap the bed on national television? Not me, that's for sure.
Speaking of which, we must talk about the bird. Over 46 million turkeys are eaten every year for the November holiday. That's a lot of tryptophan! You better get your pajamas and nightcap on after eating that much bird because you'll be knocked out into a deep sleep.
There are also 50 million pumpkin pies consumed yearly on the holiday. Imagine watching Mike McCarthy's team lose and you choke on your dessert. That's never a pleasant sight. But let's shift the attention back to the food for a second.
Here's a game plan to ensure you're not stuffed like a turkey at T-Mobile Arena. Enjoying your food and time with your best friends and family is vital to having a great Thanksgiving, after all. How should you strategize your plates for tomorrow's big holiday?
How you should tackle your Thanksgiving feast
One way you can eat your feast is by piling everything on your plate. You can add the turkey, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, stuffing, and cranberry sauce in one fell swoop. This might not be an appealing option for people who are OCD about their foods touching each other.
You can also get two (or more if you can pull off the balancing act) plates on your hands. Pile on your food accordingly and keep them from touching each other. Think of it as a balancing act, similar to how Adin Hill tends the net.
Or you could take the tedious route and bring one or two plates to your seat. This might take time, for you're carrying one plate each. You must also worry about other people eating your food, poaching it like William Karlsson steals the puck on the penalty kill.
Once you've gathered everything, take your time and enjoy the different flavors. You want your food to hit right, whether it's the sweet buttery taste of the mashed potatoes or the hardy goodness of the turkey. Just remember to eat your dessert AFTER your main course. After all, enjoying your sweets like the Golden Knights winning the Stanley Cup is good.
Thanksgiving is a great time to be thankful for everything in your life. That includes the dream job you always wanted and the loving spouse in your life. The food is no different, especially when you're watching a sports event like American football. Maybe the NHL can get on that and have their "showdowns" on this Thursday holiday in the future...
