Vegas Golden Knights get a setback with the latest Jeremy Lauzon news

Not the type of news you want to hear after getting William Karlsson back in the lineup.

It's one step forward and two steps back, it seems. The Vegas Golden Knights got some bad news on the injury front with a key defenseman. The man's name is Jeremy Lauzon and it appears he might be out for the entire second round.

Yes, this injury is unrelated to the puck hitting him in the head during Friday's Game 6. Still, the loss is bigger for the Golden Knights than anticipated. Why, you ask? Well, it goes to the point of being physical.

This regular season, Lauzon had 251 hits for the Golden Knights. He also contributed 97 blocked shots, making him an underrated stay-at-home defenseman. However, that's not what he's known for in the Golden Knights' circles.

Lauzon is known for... being a meathead. He set the franchise record for the most penalty minutes amassed in the regular season (89). That's right, he got more penalty minutes in one season than Ryan Reaves. Golden Knights fans will remember how Reaves loved to fight, which was a surprising part of his charm.

Still, Vegas can ill-afford to lose any more key guys in the lineup, specifically stay-at-home defenders. This regular season, Lauzon set a career-high in defensive point shares with 2.7. He beat out his previous high of 2.6, set in 2023-24 with the Nashville Predators.

How will the Vegas Golden Knights respond without Lauzon? Well, that's what they brought Dylan Coghlan up. They need someone with familiarity with the organization and veteran experience. Who knows? That could be what the doctor ordered to get them to the Western Conference Final.
