Everyone knows that the Vegas Golden Knights have never had a player score 100 or more points in a season. One player has come agonizingly close to the century mark twice: Jack Eichel.
He scored 94 points (28 goals and 66 assists) during the 2024-25 season and had 90 points (27 goals and 63 assists) to follow up the 2024-25 campaign. Fans saw first-hand what happens when you have a healthy Eichel on the ice for the majority of the season. Magical things happen, especially when you bring in stars like Mitch Marner to help out.
Speaking of Marner, he could be on track to achieve the century mark this season. After all, he did it with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2024-25 by scoring 102 points (27 goals and 75 assists). Certainly, this will change if the Canadian Olympian is closer to the goal than his American counterpart. Still, he's not the main character of the story: Eichel is.
With that, let's track Eichel's mercilous pursuit of the century mark throughout the 2026-27 season. If he suffers a devastating injury or does some things that justify the Buffalo Sabres fanbase's theories about him, expect this to disappear. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... the Jack Eichel Tracker!
How Jack Eichel got off on the right foot against the Chicago Blackhawks
On Tuesday, Jack Eichel made it business as usual with a strong night against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Golden Knights superstar scored a goal and added two assists in a 5-2 Vegas victory. That included a power play assist, where he set up Victor Olofsson for a beautiful snipe.

The power play will be Eichel's bread and butter throughout the 2026-27 season, especially with Pavel Dorofeyev out of the picture. The Olympic gold medalist must lean heavily on Olofsson and other teammates for scoring opportunities on the man advantage.
If the superstar does that, there's no denying that he'll become the first 100+-point player in franchise history. Of course, he must score more than one power play goal to achieve this. Still, he can also notch 30 power play assists to make up for it, which will further his cause.
Where does Eichel stand in his pursuit of 100+ points after Opening Knight?
Look, I get that we shouldn't be overreacting after one game. The NHL season just came out of the oven and we must give it time to cool off. Anything can happen in the upcoming months, whether it's through the injury department or other avenues.
Still, Eichel's Opening Knight performance is a great way to get off on the right foot. A goal and three assists put him in a better position to become the first 100-point player. The only thing that matters is that he maintains that pace throughout the season.
Two added games should help his cause, especially if he stays healthy. If the Olympic gold medalist can score more goals and take the reins as the primary goal-scoring weapon, that bodes well for his century-mark pursuit. As they always say, it's all about taking that first step.
