The Golden Knights might usher in a new training facility... and a new team

The Vegas Golden Knights could have some company on the ice. That could mean another professional team comes to Las Vegas.

Vegas Golden Knights president John Penhollow isn't one to shy away from making home run hires and moves. After all, Bill Foley and company were set on expanding their footprint in Arizona. That's why they added Scott Kegley, Rich Wang, and Bryan Harper to executive-level positions.

However, there's a bigger story with the new hires, particularly with a new state-of-the-art training facility. That could mean that the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, the professional lacrosse team, gets integrated along with... a PWHL team.

That's right, Golden Knights fans. Women's hockey could be on the menu for Sin City. The growing popularity of the women's hockey league makes sense for them to expand to Las Vegas. The league already has eight teams and is looking to grow its footprint out west.

It might be speculation. But wouldn't it be cool?

Plus, why not do it in a city that leads the NHL in attendance capacity? Golden Knights fans have shown that they support their hockey team no matter what happens. It would work wonders, especially if the women's team followed a similar model to what Bill Foley put in place for the Golden Knights.

The PWHL coming to Las Vegas makes too much sense, especially if it's run similarly to the Vegas Golden Knights

There's an iconic line straight from Field of Dreams that talks about building a reputable product. In this situation, it's talking about a baseball field in the middle of Dyersville, Iowa. However, it also applies to owning a reputable franchise like the Golden Knights.

"If you build it, they will come."

Of course, this is contingent on whether the facility gets built in the first place. That means actually picking a location and getting everything situated for the team. Mostly, that means that the Golden Knights would decide on building a new training facility. Until then, it's merely a concept of a plan.

Still, it makes too much sense for Las Vegas to get a PWHL team. The wild success of the Golden Knights already has people speculating on what a women's professional hockey team would look like. The fan support is there and would have fans coming in droves. Who can you thank for said speculation? Why, none other than Bill Foley.

He's built a commitment to winning from "Day F*****g One," picking terrific players through expansion drafts, free agency, and trades. Of course, that has also meant getting Kelly McCrimmon on board. Without McCrimmon, would you have big names like Alex Pietrangelo, Jack Eichel, and Mitch Marner on board? Probably not.

Imagine if the Golden Knights organization got hold of a PWHL team. That would mean a new juggernaut in the Las Vegas sports world, alongside the Golden Knights, the Aces, and UNLV football. It would be a testament to how much Las Vegas has grown as a sports city, making it the central hub for athletics.

All of this wouldn't be possible without Foley sharing his vision for a roadmap to success. Some people are about talking a big game. But it's the Golden Knights that are setting a precedent for a winning formula that could spread further into the ladies' side.
