The 3 biggest catalysts for the Golden Knights' incredible January

The Vegas Golden Knights have had an incredible January, a different beat from their historically bad months. These three Olympians are solely responsible.

You know, I always love a good change of pace. I love watching the Vegas Golden Knights dominate in historically mediocre months, which has kept my mind off the mediocrity known as modern life. The good news? Vegas is actually delivering on changing the course of history.

Entering Saturday's game against the surprising Nashville Predators, the Golden Knights are riding a six-game winning streak. On top of that, they've earned points in all but one January game this season, with the lone game coming on January 2nd against the St. Louis Blues.

Let's not forget that Vegas almost made it to overtime that game before Brayden Schenn spoiled the plans. Overall, it's been an Olympic-sized month for the boys in gold. In turn, they have 58 points and currently hold the top spot in the Pacific Division. I guess we should hand Vegas the gold medal for the Pacific Division now, huh?

Speaking of the Olympics, these three Olympians are leading the cause for Vegas this month. A 6-1-1 campaign wouldn't have been possible without the biggest superstars taking charge, you know. Let's hand the gold medals to these three megastars and put them atop the podium, shall we?

1.) Jack Eichel

The obvious one. Heading into Saturday's game against the Nashville Predators, Eichel has scored five goals and nine assists in January. Mind you, we're only at the halfway point of the vaunted month.

Overall, Eichel has picked up the slack for the Golden Knights. The proof? Watch his goal against the Maple Leafs on Thursday, where he finishes the game with a beautiful backhand.

That entire play was *Chef's kiss* magnificent. Stone stalls behind the net and finds Eichel crashing into the slot. That has been the zeitgeist for the Olympian this month, leading the Golden Knights to the top of the Pacific Division hierarchy. Speaking of Mark Stone...

2.) Mark Stone

Fun fact: Stone has scored a goal in every January game this season, with one exception. That would be January 11 against the San Jose Sharks, where he had... three assists. Even when the Captain isn't scoring goals, he's still putting up points for Vegas.

In fact, he's scored seven goals and eight assists this month. To put things further into perspective, Stone scored goals in nine of his last 10 games entering Saturday. Golden Knights fans know how vital the Winnipeg native is to the team's offensive operations. Little did they know that he would be the proverbial wrecking ball that demolished his opponents.

3.) Tomas Hertl

Now, Hertl isn't as decorated in January as his fellow Olympians here. The Prague native has gone four games without registering a single point this month. But does that all matter when you're the NHL's "First Star of the Week?"

That was the case with the big center, who scored two goals and three assists last Sunday against San Jose. On top of that, Hertl has scored more than one point every time he's scored in January. There's a good reason why he received incredible honors from the NHL, especially with two goals and three assists on the power play in January.
