When you've signed Mitch Marner, you know you've had an excellent summer. You're ready to run through a brick wall and take on your adversaries, ready to punish the big boys. Watch out, world! Here come the Vegas Golden Knights!

Now, we play the waiting game. Luckily, there are some appetizers to whet the hunger. First, there's the annual Battle 4 Vegas, a charity softball game between the Golden Knights and the Raiders. Fans of both teams will unite for a fun-filled evening, filled with home runs.

Next is the 2025 Rookie Showcase in Colorado, where Vegas will take on the Colorado Avalanche and the newly minted Utah Mammoth. Here, the stars of tomorrow take the ice for a chance to make their NHL dreams come true. America does love a good underdog story, you know.

Then, it's the preseason. The chance to make the main roster is on the line. Who will play among the 12 starting forwards, six starting defensemen, and two goaltenders? Who could disappoint some people and miss the roster? Stay tuned, my friend.

Why this feels special as a Golden Knights fan

But one thing's for certain. The long haul is upon us, meaning we're counting down the days until we see Marner and the gang in action. What will the newest star bring to the team? Well, plenty of action, for starters.

There's the two-way game where he excels, using his 200-ft. range to make plays. Oh, and he can score. Last season, he had 102 points (27 goals and 75 assists), making him one of the best players in the league.

But there's an overall excitement that comes with signing a big name. Marquees are lit with their newest superstar. Fans are dreaming about another Stanley Cup. All of this wouldn't be possible without an incredible front office.

So let's enjoy the Battle 4 Vegas. Let's tune in when the Rookie Showcase goes down. Most of all, let's have fun. 2025-26 just got even more interesting.
