As a Vegas Golden Knights fan, I'm watching my other team, the San Francisco 49ers, take on the Chicago Bears. Already, this game is an instant classic. Brock Purdy is slinging the ball and racking up the fantasy points (although that's bad for me in my championship matchup). Caleb Williams is also lighting it up, going blow-to-blow with Purdy and the Niners.
Of course, the Golden Knights know something about this, too. They faced the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday in a shootout thriller that had everything.
Late game drama.
Goals.
All the superstars showing off their spectacular moves.
It reminded fans of the "Greatest Game Ever" between Patrick Mahomes and Jared Goff, where the two quarterbacks dueled their hearts out. This time, it was on ice and the Avalanche prevailed. Would the 49ers have the same fate as the Golden Knights?
An incomplete pass falls to the wayside as the 49ers edge the Bears, 42-38. Now comes a colossal matchup against their divisional rival, the Seattle Seahawks. Can the 49ers prevail again and grab the top overall seed in the NFC? Stay tuned.
Still, both the 49ers and the Golden Knights have so much in common. First, both teams have dealt with a series of debilitating injuries. Second, both have been on offensive heaters in recent memory. It's funny how life works in mysterious ways regarding two of your favorite teams, eh?
As for the nailbiters? Well, enjoy them when you can because these are easily the most thrilling games you can come across. Like the Mahomes-Goff matchup and the recent game between Purdy and Williams, MacKinnon and Marner didn't disappoint. Hockey fans in Las Vegas were treated to a delightful game, even if their team lost yet another overtime/shootout.
I can tell you that a game like this in the Stanley Cup playoffs will be talked about for ages. Fans will look at such a game and be like...
"Where were you when this legendary game happened?"
