I'm going to be 100% honest with you. I can't take a nap after the exciting gold medal victory over Canada. It's tough when you can run through a brick wall after a dramatic overtime victory over your heated rivals. That's especially true when you're the underdog in that matchup and your rival has untethered access to all the NHL superstars.
I mean, when Jack Hughes scores the golden goal that seals the 2-1 victory for the Americans, you can't help but feel excited. D*mn getting up at 4 AM and only getting three hours of sleep. You were in it for the long haul and were handsomely rewarded.
That feeling will resonate well with Golden Knights fans returning from the Olympic break. The vibes are already high with players returning to the fold and every Vegas Olympian coming out unscathed. That feeling is intoxicating, making you feel like you can take on the world.
As a result, the win has had an infectious feeling beyond myself. Americans are sharing memes, having beers with one another, and enjoying life. It's almost like sports has a funny way of healing everyone, politics and other distractions be d*mned.
That's the beautiful thing about life. When you step off the Reddit space and see what makes life worth living, you get a different perspective of everything. Perhaps you haven't been there for your family enough and you're starting to think more of them. Maybe you want to reconcile with an old friend that fell off.
Whatever the case, Golden Knights fans can relate to this, especially in the past two weeks. With all the noise happening in the outside world, it's refreshing to put our differences aside and enjoy a victory for the boys at home. Next stop? The Stanley Cup.
