Sunday thoughts about... escaping

I can't stand to watch the NFL Championship games today. Luckily, there's Vegas Golden Knights hockey to help me escape.

As a heartbroken 49ers fan, I can't stand to watch the NFC Championship game today. It's too much for me to bear, not thinking about my team being in the conference title game. What could've happened if this player hadn't gotten hurt? What would've happened if Kyle Shanahan made this decision or that one?

Oh well. I guess I will resort to rooting for the AFC Championship winner. That might be a tall task for me, considering that the Rams and the Seahawks are flippin' awesome this year. When you have an array of weapons like Puka Nacua and Jaxson Smith-Njigba, the world is your oyster.

Luckily, there's an escape for me to avoid this dreadful watch. The Vegas Golden Knights happen to play the Ottawa Senators at 2:00 PM PST, saving my eyeballs from witnessing two of the 49ers' division rivals go at it. Thank goodness because the Golden Knights have won eight of their past 10 games entering Sunday's contest against Ottawa.

That's kinda the thing about escaping. It helps us get away from our problems, whether it's dealing with car accident BS or childish 20-something neighbors. It's also what makes being a hockey fan awesome.

Once the consumption of chicken wings and bad beer is over, it's time to prepare for the best time of year: the Stanley Cup chase. After all, the Stanley Cup is more glorious than some trophy with a football on it. The Cup has a storied history, with teams such as the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings having their names engraved on it.

While the Golden Knights are playing, I don't have to worry about watching the Rams or the Seahawks play. I can focus solely on hockey and seeing Vegas compete for two more points. Thank goodness that I'm a hockey fan, eh?
