I'm going to be honest with you. I was going to put "Can Shea Theodore put it together and have a monster season for the Golden Knights?" in the caption. However, I ultimately decided against it because I didn't want to hear it from the peanut gallery about the wording. You don't say that about Jack Eichel and you don't say that here.
Therefore, I chose different words to describe his potential season in 2026-27. It's better than asking whether an Original Misfit who competed in the Four Nations Faceoff and the Winter Olympics can put it together. That's like throwing yourself into the volcano and cooking yourself alive.
Yeah, don't do it, please. You don't want to turn into a Costco rotiserrie chicken.
Anyway, let's focus on Theodore. Last season, he didn't put up electric offensive numbers compared to his 2024-25 campaign (seven goals and 50 assists in 2024-25). He might've scored more goals than in 2024-25 (10 goals in 2025-26). However, his assists were nearly halved, with only 29 assists last season. But hey, he scored the Game 3 winner!
Is there a way that he can get close to his 2024-25 numbers? Or is this the beginning of the end for the beloved Misfit? Believe it or not, there's more to the story than merely declining assist numbers for the native of Langley, British Columbia.

You might see regression in the offensive stats for the Original Misfit, sans the goal-scoring department. But there's more to the story than merely seeing your assists dip. There's also the defensive side, which flourished in 2025-26.

Still, his 5.5 defensive point shares was the first time in his career that he had more than five point shares in the category. You can say that there was a slight shift in philosophy for the defenseman, as he become the best defensive player that he ever was.
He also blocked 87 shots, up by five from the previous season. Theodore also stayed relatively healthy last season, playing in 70 games for the Golden Knights. Health has been a concern for the 31-year-old, where he's missed time with wrist injuries and other upper-body injuries. Simply getting back to the ice helped his defensive production flourish.
Predicting Shea Theodore's statline with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2026-27
Looking at Shea Theodore's production from last season, it was the first time he had less than 30 assists with the Golden Knights since 2018-19 (25 assists). What's more eye-catching is the amount of primary assists he had last season, when he totaled 14. Compare that to his 2024-25 amount being twice as much as you'll notice the sharp decline in production.
Of course, that was an overachievement on his part since that was a career-high. In fact, he's only passed the 20+ primary assist mark twice in his NHL career. He lives primarily on the secondary assists, which were actually reasonable last season (15).
With that, let's go with nine goals and 35 assists on the season for the Misfit. As far as the primary assist department goes, let's go with 18 primary assists. I expect a minor offensive rebound for the defenseman as he'll maintain his defensive pace from the prior season.
Some fans might feel slightly discouraged by last season's dip in assists. However, he did set career highs in that campaign and outperformed expectations. That should be no different for the 31-year-old this season. Watch for him to shine with the Golden Knights and boost his production.
