Everyone knows what Mark Stone can do with the Vegas Golden Knights. Last season, the Golden Knights were 8-9-5 without their Captain. That partially explains why they didn't have the best record in franchise history, despite winning the Pacific Division. I mean, would you be surprised if you had fewer wins than losses if you didn't have your Captain around?
The good news is that it's a new season, meaning that it's a new opportunity to put up bigger numbers than last season. Of course, there's also some bad news that comes with this, starting with the absence of Pavel Dorofeyev.
Gone are 20 power play goals (a single-season franchise record), which makes things complicated. To make matters worse, lower-line forwards such as Colton Sissons and Keegan Kolesar are no longer in town. Now, you're relying on cheaper talent to get the job done.

Alright, let's get one thing out of the way. There's a good chance that the Captain doesn't play all 84 games this season. It was already tough enough when you've dealt with spleen injuries or had a lumbar discectomy to address your back issues. But imagine tacking on two more games to the schedule.
Anyway, it's amazing that Stone is still playing at a high level. Last season, he averaged 1.22 points per game, a career-high that broke his previous mark of 1.11 in 2020-21. Scoring 73 points (28 goals and 45 assists) in 60 games is an impressive mark, especially when you're older than 30 years.

One thing you'll notice with this is that Stone scores more when plays more games. Once he gets into the proverbial groove, he starts going on tears. One perfect example is last January, when he scored 10 goals and 12 assists. Of course, there are outliers. That includes his frigid March (two goals and three assists) when he was also injured, leaving the Golden Knights without key scoring.
So, the prediction will center around how much playing time the Winnipeg native gets in 2026-27. If he's playing less than 50 games for the upcoming season, expect his production to (obviously) take a dip. If he plays more, those numbers should increase. The difference will be that the numbers will go even further than people expected, based off the points per game stat.
Predicting Mark Stone's stat total with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2026-27
Alright, so we got the idea that Stone's not likely to play 84 games this season out of the way. His past health issues and age indicate that his healthier days are behind him. Therefore, it's tougher to imagine him getting 100 points in a season, despite his torrid pace from last season.
With that, let's go a step further than the prior predictions, shall we? Let's say Stone plays 61 games and scores 24 goals and 45 assists for the upcoming season. The Captain has turned up his production in the past two campaigns, giving Vegas plenty of offense along the way.
If Stone can add more points to that prediction total, that bodes well for the Golden Knights in 2026-27. The offense will look vastly different from the prior season and Vegas needs all hands on deck to outperform expectations. What better way to do that than to have your Captain around for the entire season (or close)?
