Some franchises have recognizable faces that regular citizens can't forget. These faces forged themselves within the annals of being team legends, winning numerous awards and nominations along the way. Whether it's the Vezina Trophy or even the Hart Memorial Trophy, these players deserve recognition from everyone within the town. In turn, even their most innocent traits become positively remembered, including their smile and relaxed demeanor.
That's especially true with legendary names like Marc-Andre Fleury, who etched his name as one of the "Original Misfits" on the Vegas Golden Knights. The former first-overall pick was a key component of the Golden Knights making the Stanley Cup Final in their inaugural season. He was also one of those award winners, winning the Vezina Trophy in 2021.
That's why such a recognizable goaltender should have numerous franchise records to his name. He should be the leader in categories such as GAA, total saves, and save percentage. Speaking of the latter, does Fleury hold that record? Or does another goaltender such as Adin Hill lead the franchise? It takes such a sterling reputation to lead the team in such a category, after all.
The Vegas Golden Knights franchise leader in save percentage is Marc-Andre Fleury
Marc-Andre Fleury does lead the Vegas Golden Knights historically in franchise save percentage with a career number of .917. His best season came in 2021, posting a save percentage of .928. That's followed closely by his first season with the Golden Knights, where he had a percentage of .927. As for the worst? That would be 2019-20 with a percentage of .905.
The second-best goaltender in this category isn't Adin Hill. It's his other goaltending half from last season in Logan Thompson. The newest Washington Capitals netminder has a Golden Knights career save percentage of .912 (minimum of three seasons). Hill has that same number as Thompson, only he's played in two seasons for the Golden Knights.
In fact, Fleury has the most franchise saves with 5,053. He almost has twice as many saves as Thompson, who had 2,737 total saves during his Vegas career. As for Hill? He's currently fifth in the category with 1,550. He's 47 shy of Malcolm Subban (1,597) for fourth overall. However, he should pass that total during the 2024-25 season.
It's good to be the king, especially as the top goaltender for a hockey franchise. The Golden Knights have their recognizable face in Marc-Andre Fleury (although the Penguins can also rightfully claim him as theirs). He's rewarded them with countless achievements and records, making him one of the most beloved "Misfits" in franchise history.
