Sometimes, it's good to be a consistent scorer in a single season. Sure, doing it over time makes it much more fun. Your team can rely on you in the long run, whether it's scoring goals or assists. Take it from Mark Stone, who's built a reputation as one of the most consistent offensive pieces for the Vegas Golden Knights.

But doing it in a single season still gets you in the record books. For one, it boosts the overall stat line, putting them higher in the all-time category. That's good for gaining overall recognition within the franchise by getting them more accolades. It also leaves behind a lasting legacy, Fans remember your name if you're good enough, where you've created a memorable reputation.

So which superstar has done this with goal-scoring? Who's scored the most goals per game in a single season? Is it Jonathan Marchessault? William Karlsson? Jack Eichel? Believe it or not, the answer will surprise some, for it's not the player that holds the lion's share of franchise records. Still, fans will recognize his name, especially since he's an "Original Misfit." Here's the star that holds the record for most goals per game in a season.

William Karlsson holds the record for most goals per game in a season for the Vegas Golden Knights

When it comes to scoring the most goals consistently in a single season, numerous names come to mind. It could be Eichel, one of the most recognizable names in Vegas Golden Knights history. It could also be Marchessault, who's been with the franchise since the inaugural season. After all, he did score 42 goals last season, giving him plenty of ammunition in this category.

However, his fellow "Original Misfit," William Karlsson, scored 0.52 goals per game in 2017-18. That season, the Swedish forward scored 43 goals in 82 games, setting the stage for a Stanley Cup Final run. Jonathan Marchessault was a close second with 0.51 goals per game last season. Like Karlsson, the fellow "Misfit" played all 82 games in 2023-24, getting the Golden Knights to another Stanley Cup playoff appearance.

Coming in third was Max Pacioretty in 2020-21 with 0.50 goals per game, followed by Jack Eichel last season with 0.49 goals per game. It's safe to say Eichel is a good candidate to break that record, though. If he plays a full year with the Golden Knights, he could score more goals and earn a reputation as a franchise cornerstone. That would be excellent for the former second-overall draft pick.
