He's endured all sorts of disrespect from some jilted fans in his hometown and is ready to prove them wrong. His latest ranking in the NHL's Top 50 Players Right Now list is a shining example.
The Golden Knights winger ranked 16th in the rankings, bumping up two spots from last season's list. He's the first Golden Knight to make the list, with Jack Eichel's spot yet to be determined.

Last season, Marner scored 24 goals and 56 assists in the first year of his Vegas residency. He also had a strong Stanley Cup playoff campaign, leading the NHL in points with 29 (10 goals and 19 assists). He was in the running for the Conn Smythe Trophy and would've won if the Golden Knights had won the Stanley Cup.
Marner enters the second year of his Vegas residency with some changes. First, a new head coach, Ryan Craig, takes the bench, replacing the outgoing John Tortorella. There are also missing pieces, such as Pavel Dorofeyev, leaving the scoring burden on superstars like Marner.
Still, the ranking is indicative of how talented the Golden Knights superstar is. He brings much more to the Golden Knights than mere points. There's a reason why he's so beloved within Vegas's confines, especially since he helps in other facets.

He scored five power play goals and 19 power play assists last season, chipping in two goals and six assists on the man advantage during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Part of Vegas's power play success has stemmed from players like Tomas Hertl. However, you can't discount what the Canadian Olympian has done with the Golden Knights.
You can also rely on the native of Markham, Ontario, to deliver in short-handed situations. He scored four power play assists during the Stanley Cup playoffs last season, gelling well with Brett Howden. That put the Golden Knights on the doorstep of their second Stanley Cup, showcasing unrivaled versatility in key situations.
Some people will still dunk on Marner for not being around when called upon. Fans will cite that he chokes in key situations, specifically in his Maple Leafs days. But when you score a hat trick in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, that shows you belong on the national stage.
Expect bigger things from the Golden Knights superstar in 2026-27. He's put himself on an incredible trajectory to outperform his prior season, especially because of his versatility in different situations. The next goal in mind? Bringing Stanley Cup No. 2 to Vegas.
