Vegas Golden Knights fans were extremely excited when Mark Stone signed a two-year contract extension worth $9 million AAV on Saturday. They were ecstatic that he was coming back for two additional years after scoring 28 goals and 45 assists last season. Add a full no-move clause for those two years and it's guaranteed the Captain isn't going anywhere.

In fact, Stone sat down with sports reporter Taylor Rocha to talk about his future with the Golden Knights. He talked about the Las Vegas community and how much Las Vegas has meant to him. Let's just say that he's not going anywhere soon.

It's no secret that the Winnipeg native has been beloved by his community, too. Stone scored a hat trick in the 2023 Stanley Cup clincher, fulfilling a promise from team owner Bill Foley set six years prior. But his legacy stems far beyond mere performances.

Stone has 136 goals and 260 assists during his eight-year Vegas residency. He also has 31.6 offensive point shares and 12.9 defensive point shares during that period, making him one of the most prolific Golden Knights around.

He found a new home after spending seven seasons with the Ottawa Senators, bringing home some hardware in the process.

The Canadian Olympian has become the unequivocal offensive leader that the team desperately needed, with the Golden Knights having an all-time record of 237-118-45 when their Captain was in the lineup. Aside from bringing incredible offensive awareness and scoring depth, he also brings unrivaled leadership to the group. That's something that all Golden Knights fans can respect, especially when the team has remained competitive throughout its history.

Of course, there have been some notable drawbacks. The Winnipeg native has had a notorious injury history, including spleen and back injuries. That has limited his ice time with the Golden Knights, which has also led to an all-time record of 164-106-31 without their leader on the ice.

But let's be honest for a second. Is anybody thinking about said drawbacks? Yes, they might look back and get annoyed whenever the Captain didn't step onto the ice. However, the stats and record speak for themselves. Mark Stone has made Vegas Golden Knights hockey into a growing brand.
