Five words is all it took to lay out the Mark Stone situation. Just five!

Vegas Golden Knights fans were greeted with some pleasant news on Wednesday. They got word from Jesse Granger that Mark Stone was skating on the ice—albeit with the scratches—before Game 1 against the Colorado Avalanche. That's good news for a Golden Knights team that won't see Cale Makar in Game 1.

However, there's a catch with this. John Tortorella spoke to the media about any current injury updates. Of course, this consisted of questions about Jeremy Lauzon, too. You can't forget about him. But it took the Golden Knights' head coach five words to give a direct response about the Captain.

"There's no updates on injuries."

Now, make of that what you will. That could mean that the Golden Knights won't likely see Stone for Game 1. That could also mean that Tortorella doesn't like talking to the media and is the biggest introvert around. Whatever the case, it means that fans are left in the dark on their Captain returning to the ice.

Of course, this doesn't help Tortorella's case that he's not a "media-friendly" guy. People will view him as a cromudgen who doesn't want to deal with others, whether it's media members making funny quips or asking dumb questions. Still, it doesn't say that anyone is ruled out, which is a silver lining.

Golden Knights fans should already look at Stone skating again as a positive, anyway. Sure, they've managed to carry the offensive load just fine without him. Players like Mitch Marner have stepped up in his absence, after all. But it's always good to have one of your best offensive pieces return to the mix, helping out stars like Marner and Jack Eichel.

Therefore, let's celebrate this small victory and see that the Golden Knights have a competitive series. The Avalanche still have a stacked lineup, even if they don't have Cale Makar. Sometimes, it's the simple things in life that are worth celebrating.
