So, do you guys remember when I talked about Jack Eichel being surprisingly quiet by his standards? He only had five assists entering Thursday's game against the Utah Mammoth. In fact, it was nine games since he last had a goal.
Well, he must've seen that article because the former Hobey Baker winner erupted for three points. Eichel scored two goals and an assist, en route to a "Mammoth" (waka waka) 4-1 win over Utah. Cue the clip because it's perfect for times like these.

Eichel also had five shots on the night, completing a resurgent performance after a quieter month. However, he wasn't alone. Super-rookie Braeden Bowman had more youthful magic, scoring a goal and an assist. Shea Theodore also chipped in three assists, while Akira Schmid turned in another strong performance. The Swiss netminder stopped 25 of 26 shots, taking down yet another strong goaltender.
Suddenly, Vegas has points in their last five games (3-0-2) and are rolling. Meanwhile, the Mammoth don't look as "Mammoth" as they did earlier in the season. They've won two of their last 11 games, marking a massive (didn't say the other word) dropoff from their colassol start.
As expected, it was only a matter of time before Jack Eichel broke through for the Vegas Golden Knights
Let's be honest. Would Eichel go through an entire month without scoring a goal? Heck no. In fact, he was a goal away from a hat trick, creating endless chemistry with Bowman all night.
Of course, fans have come to expect this from their de facto leader. The center has done an excellent job throughout the years of setting up scoring opportunities and taking the initiative. In turn, it's led to a breakthrough night for the former second-overall pick, getting Vegas a much-needed two points along the way.
You could even say that it was a breakthrough performance for the offensive apparatus overall. Watching Theodore score two goals and five assists in his last six games is refreshing. Not only that, but Ben Hutton got a goal in his second straight game. By the way, Vegas is +10 in the third period this season.
If the Golden Knights can continue to get scoring in spades, they'll be a tough out for any team. That's especially true if the secondary scoring continues to pick it up. Who knows where the Golden Knights are headed with their offense turning up the heat?
Akira Schmid turns in another solid performance for the Golden Knights
Part of that strong third period performance was Schmid, who continues to build a case to stick around. He's allowed four goals in his last three games started, bringing stability to the goaltending position.
While it remains to be seen what happens with the group once Carter Hart's eligible to play, you can't deny that the 25-year-old has a compelling case to stick around. He's used his size to cover every bit of the crease, making him tough to crack.
Of course, this is partially because of the defensive group being stellar. When you have Theodore and Brayden McNabb holding down the fort, magical things happen. But give credit to the Swiss netminder for eating up the easier looks. That should make life easier once Hill returns.
