The Vegas Golden Knights should be interested in bringing back a former recordholder from the Misfit days. It would be a nice little throwback to when the team shocked the world and made the Stanley Cup Final in its inaugural season. After all, you're down to three Misfits on the team.
No, I'm not talking about Marc-Andre Fleury. He's retired and relaxing these days. Instead, I'm talking about David Perron.
Once upon a time, Perron was the single-season recordholder for the most assists with 50 in 2017-18. Those assists were enough to propel the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Final with Perron adding a goal and eight assists.
Alas, he lasted one season before winning a Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues the next. He did score 13 goals and 15 assists last season with the Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators, making him a valuable forward.
But is there room for the former Misfit to return or do the Golden Knights not have the cap space? The latter rings true, even with Alex Pietrangelo's season-ending LTIR designation looming large. Still, the idea of bringing back an Original Misfit does sound enticing.
The Golden Knights could hand a flyer out to David Perron and give him one more chance
Believe it or not, Perron was viable as a forward for the Red Wings and the Senators. Aside from the aforementioned goals and assists, the Original Misfit had respectable advanced stats. That could help a team like the Golden Knights give them the necessary veteran experience to compete with other Stanley Cup contenders.

Perron's shot selection is still superb, which explains how he does so well on unblocked shots. He knows how to locate the puck and squeeze one past the netminder. Of course, he can stand to shoot a little more (93 shots on goal last season). But he's still a reliable lower-line player that can score.
Perron can also add some lower-line grit. Last season, he had 90 hits, making him a tough player. Let's say that Holtz doesn't work out in the preseason or the Golden Knights would rather not risk another lackluster season. Why not give the Misfit a PTO and see what he can do?
Of course, it's unlikely that the Golden Knights will budge here. The roster looks set in stone and the team has plenty of viable forwards who can get the job done. Still, crazier things have happened, with Tanner Pearson being a shining example.
