On Wednesday, the Henderson Silver Knights announced their home opener date for the 2026-27 season, along with their opponent. That happens to be the Bakersfield Condors, who will play the Silver Knights on October 3rd at Lee's Family Forum.

If you don't know, the Condors are the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, adding even more spice to the mix. The Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights have maintained one of the biggest rivalries in the NHL in recent memory, with Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel going at each other's throats.
That's what makes this Opening Knight matchup perfectly apt for Vegas. Fans wanting a little Oilers-Golden Knights action can get the appetizer at Lee's Family Forum on October 3. They can watch the younger siblings of two prominent NHL franchises go at it in the opening act of the 2026-27 NHL season.
After coming off a historic 2025-26 campaign, fans will be eagerly awaiting the Silver Knights to come back onto the ice. What will they do with their new head coach, Joel Ward, in tow? Can they duplicate their success on the ice from last season?
Those questions will come into play when October 3 rolls around. Man, we're already talking about hocke and the regular season's only two to three months away. At least we got the AHL boys to look forward to as a new campaign comes into play.
