Playoff hockey is such an exhilarating time. You get to see the best teams battle it out for the right to hoist the Stanley Cup. Let's be honest: that's the best prize to hold up in all of sports because it captures the glory of a months-long grind of battling 31 other teams.
The Vegas Golden Knights know this all too well. They toppled seven other teams in the Pacific Division to claim the divisional crown and are locked in a battle with the Utah Mammoth.
But wait! There's more!
The Henderson Silver Knights are also in the playoff hunt. They're building off a hot streak by claiming third place in the Pacific Division. The Tahoe Knight Monsters built off last season's success by making it back to their league's respective playoffs as well.
So let's make this a playoff edition of the Round-Up. That's right, Nevada hockey fans! All three Nevada professional hockey teams are involved and they're in competitive matchups against tough foes. Get ready for some gritty play because this is what's happening in the realm this week!
The Utah Mammoth have a 2-1 series lead on the Vegas Golden Knights
Is it time to panic in Las Vegas? Well, not yet, for this isn't the Calder Cup playoffs that we're talking about here. However, letting the Utah Mammoth score the first four goals in Game 3 isn't a good sign. That's not even mentioning how they stole Game 2 at T-Mobile Arena and defeated the Golden Knights.
Suddenly, the series is 2-1 in favor of the Beehive State. Now, Utah fans are feeling extra frisky like they can take on anybody, whether it's Jack Eichel or Connor McDavid (good luck with that one). The good news is that the Golden Knights have some time to right the ship.
The bad news? Utah is feeling frisky.
The Henderson Silver Knights move on to the next round!
On a happier note, the Henderson Silver Knights swept the San Jose Barracuda with a 5-1 victory on Friday. They move on to the next round to face the Colorado Eagles, with the action beginning on May 1 at Lee's Family Forum. 7 PM PST is the time, so be sure to bring your family and friends with you!
Anyways, the Silver Knights have seen an offensive explosion from promising prospects. That includes Trevor Connelly, who scored the overtime winner in Game 1, and Braeden Bowman. Perhaps the future of Golden Knights hockey looks brighter than initially thought...
The Tahoe Knight Monsters picked up where they left off from last season
Nevada fans saw how well the Tahoe Knight Monsters did in the ECHL during their debut season. They shocked the world and made the Kelly Cup playoffs. Well, it appears that the Knight Monsters are back in business and they're facing the Kansas City Mavericks.
Unfortunately, the Knight Monsters fell to the Mavericks on Friday, 4-1, in Game 1. Kansas City has been a relatively tricky team to play against for Tahoe, for they swept the Knight Monsters in the second round last season. It'll be tough to compete with a similar squad this season, especially if Kansas City goes off on a scoring spree. However, fans can hope that they'll pull out at least one or two wins.
