It's funny that people were writing off the Vegas Golden Knights and the Pacific Division this season. People speculated that the Central Division would produce the Western Conference champion, whether it was the Colorado Avalanche, the Dallas Stars, or the Minnesota Wild.

However, a funny thing happened. The Golden Knights have a commanding lead in the Western Conference Final. Carter Hart is playing phenomenal hockey, using his butterfly style to stop pucks from getting in the net. But he's not the only superstar on the team.

Mitch Marner is leading the NHL in postseason points (19), while Jack Eichel is right behind him (18). Pavel Dorofeyev has suddenly emerged and Brett Howden is playing clutch hockey. Suddenly, life is good for the Golden Knights and everyone is celebrating.

So, let's go over the week that was in the realm. It's time to see the names that stood out—both good and bad—for the Golden Knights and even go through some controversies. After all, there's no better time to be a Golden Knights fan than now.

Mark Stone is still out of action for the Vegas Golden Knights

It seems that Mark Stone can't catch a break with the Vegas Golden Knights this season. It doesn't matter if it's colliding with Erik Karlsson or it's suffering another upper-body injury. The Captain is suffering from nicks left and right.

That's why he hasn't been seen since Game 3 against the Anaheim Ducks. Even though the Golden Knights have a 2-0 lead on the Colorado Avalanche, it would help Vegas if they got their Captain back for the playoff run, even if he isn't 100%. Speaking of the Avs...

The Vegas Golden Knights have a commanding 2-0 lead over the Colorado Avalanche

You know, TikTok is a funny landscape if you're an NHL fan. You deal with countless fans trash-talking you, making silly proclamations like "AvS iN 5" or "AvS sWeEp." How did that turn out, you ask?

The Vegas Golden Knights have a 2-0 lead on the Avalanche. They doubled up Colorado in Game 1 and defeated the Avs in Game 2, 3-1. Be sure to send your regards to Carter Hart, who's having an excellent postseason. Thank goodness for suffocating the neutral zone, eh?

Sure, Colorado is dealing with some issues (think Cale Makar being out). However, the Golden Knights are playing well at the right time. That's good news for a team that was left for dead in March.

The Bruce Cassidy fiasco continues, despite Elliotte Friedman saying that there's nothing wrong

People love making a big fuss over everything. They tried to crucify the Golden Knights over using the LTIR rules to their advantage. Now, they're crying foul over how the Golden Knights are keeping (allegedly) Bruce Cassidy away from other teams.

Elliotte Friedman poured cold water on that speculation, saying that the NHL isn't worried about the current situation. If the Golden Knights continue paying him after he was relieved of his duties, there's nothing wrong within the realm. Therefore, we move on in life (at least, I hope).
