Alright, Vegas Golden Knights fans. You've had your fill of holiday ham and finished unwrapping your presents. Now comes the hard part: waiting an extra day until the NHL season resumes. I know, you're getting the bluest of the boys right now.

But have no fear! Soon, that Saturday will return and we'll all be greeted by the lovely sights and sounds of players skating at T-Mobile Arena. Of course, that won't come without repurcussions, particularly with January looming.

Surely, the Golden Knights will have an easy test to deal with upon returning, right? Well... Here's the thing. The Golden Knights aren't exactly dealing with the Vancouver Canucks here. They're dealing with something far more grotesque.

WIth that, let's jump into this week's round-up. Here's hoping that you don't have to return any Christmas gifts and you have plenty of ham to eat!

The Vegas Golden Knights face a daunting test in the Colorado Avalanche

When the Vegas Golden Knights return from Christmas break, they must face the Colorado Avalanche. Now, beating them is easier said than done since they have the most points in the NHL.

However, the game can swing in the favor of Vegas on a couple of factors. First, have Jack Eichel, will travel. Second, the Golden Knights can benefit from Colorado's Jekyll-and-Hyde special teams. But let's turn our attention to Eichel for a second...

Will we know what the status is on Jack Eichel soon?

It's tough when you're dealing with an illness that knocks you out of commission. But a lower-body injury to boot? Now that feels like a kick to the nuts.

Golden Knights fans still don't know the status of their beloved superstar. Will he be out for a long time? Is he coming back to play on Saturday? Time will tell.

But one thing's certain. Vegas can't go too long without seeing its precious superstar. Otherwise, they'll be in hot water like a lobster being cooked.

The ECHL is about to go on strike

The ECHL released a statement this week regarding a potential strike. On Monday, the Professional Hockey Players' Association (PHPA) announced that they've been served with a notice to strike that would start on Friday. Suddenly, the minor league's in limbo, putting the Tahoe Knight Monsters in the crosshairs.

It's unfortunate because the league's grown with the Knight Monsters being one of the latest additions. But when players are forced to work under troubling conditions, they start taking notice.
