Vegas Golden Knights fans saw a defenseman in a red no-contact jersey skating on Friday. He saw the man take warm-ups for a few minutes before exiting to the locker room. Eventually, he returns. But the people make sure to give him a standing ovation for his first time stepping on the ice.

His name? Jeremy Lauzon, who's been missing since May 1st. Fans haven't forgotten about him, even after he suffered an injury during that time.

Believe it or not, this latest Jeremy Lauzon news is good for the Golden Knights. Vegas gets a pure defenseman back with a physical edge. He has 14 hits this postseason, punishing opponents for the Golden Knights.

But that's not all. Lauzon blocks a few shots, putting up eight blocked shots during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Ironically, he has stayed out of the penalty box as well. Lauzon only has four penalty minutes this postseason, keeping the Golden Knights afloat.

I will admit that Lauzon's game has grown on me. He's steered away from amassing a gazillion penalty minutes, while retaining his physical play. That's good news for Vegas, who gets more defensive depth for the Stanley Cup Final.

Not only that, but the vaunted penalty kill (87.5%) gets even better. Now, you have a defenseman who takes away space and wears his opponents down throughout the game. That will come in handy in the Stanley Cup Final, where the Golden Knights need all hands on deck.

Furthermore, Carter Hart will thank him. He's already thriving in the postseason and is one of the Conn Smythe Trophy dark horses. What better way to improve the back end than to get a punishing defenseman to get your six?
