After suffering an upper-body injury in Saturday's victory against the Calgary Flames, Golden Knights fans received some bad news regarding their beloved Captain.

Cue the LTIR jokes because Mark Stone is injured again.

It's an unfortunate fate for the Golden Knights forward, especially after his hot start. Entering Monday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Captain was second in the NHL in points (13, two behind teammate Jack Eichel) and led the league in assists (11). He had two goals and two assists in Saturday's victory over Calgary, getting off the goalless snide.

It's a major blow to the Golden Knights, considering a tough three-game road trip looms. You're playing against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers. You need your best players on board for such a challenging trip and not having your leader hurts your prospects of winning.

The latest Mark Stone injury news is unfortunate, but not surprising for Vegas Golden Knights fans

Golden Knights fans have grown accustomed to seeing Mark Stone injured in some capacity. They've heard the endless "spleen jokes" and the LTIR conspiracies thrown around. The latest news isn't a shocker for fans who've followed the team since "Day F*****g One."

Stone's latest injury setback is the latest in a long line of health concerns from the Captain. He's gone through life-threatening ailments such as a lacerated spleen, a bad back, and everything in between. Ironically, he's still producing at a high level despite these setbacks, proving his worth to hockey fans everywhere.

Does that mean he could suffer some regression? Possibly. After all, Stone is 33 years old and Father Time doesn't leave anybody behind in his pursuit to age everyone. That's no different for the Captain, whose injury history could catch up to him.

Still, the Winnipeg native is valuable to the Vegas Golden Knights attack. He's great at setting up scoring chances and works extremely well with Jack Eichel. Don't count out the 33-year-old just yet!
