Vegas Golden Knights fans might not remember Jake Bischoff much. The defenseman only played four games with the NHL franchise, after all. He's on a similar path to his teammate, Gage Quinney, by playing in the KHL.
However, the former Golden Knights defenseman did receive a nice honor with his new club. He was named as one of the assistant captains for the Shanghai Dragons.

As a part of the KHL club's endless effort to reinvent itself as the Eastern version of the Golden Knights, Shanghai also has former Vegas head coach Gerard Gallant in the mix. So far, it's working well. The team defeated SKA St. Petersburg in their first game, 7-4.
As for Bischoff, he's earned his new moniker. The defenseman was captain for two seasons with the Henderson Silver Knights and was even an assistant captain with the AHL club for two seasons. He was also an assistant captain for the Minnesota Golden Gophers for two seasons, capping off an illustrious collegiate career.
He also had an illustrious AHL career stat-wise. Bischoff scored 27 goals and 83 assists in nine seasons (367 games), making him one of the most important depth pieces in Golden Knights history.
Jake Bischoff is another former Vegas Golden Knights star reinventing himself overseas
In the first game of the KHL season, Jake Bischoff got an assist. He was searching for a "Golden" opportunity to reinvent himself after his NHL dreams didn't exactly pan out. Fortunately, the 31-year-old seems to be in the right spot.
With the 7-4 win over Igor Larionov's squad, the Dragons hope to find some of that Golden Knights magic brought in by Bischoff, Quinney, and company. They could be on their way to dominating the KHL this season, with the defenseman front and center of that charge.
The former Silver Knights star has sound offensive skills that make him valuable on the attack. Bischoff can also complement his wingers on the rush, taking on the role of facilitator if needed. Such skills will prove valuable as Shanghai looks to take over the Eastern hockey world.
Who knows? The Dragons could have a similar story to the Golden Knights. They could shock the KHL world and head all the way to the finals. That could even mean winning it all, thanks to Bischoff steering the ship.
