Noise. Heartbreak. Rinse. Repeat.
That seems to be the case of the Toronto media, who can't let go of Mitch Marner like Taylor Swift couldn't let go of her exes pre-Travis Kelce. The newest Vegas Golden Knights star has received death threats and has even had his address posted online.
Yikes.
But it appears that it won't stop any time soon. An article from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun brushed off Marner's experience after losing Game 7 to the Florida Panthers.
"That Marner and [Darren] Ferris are essentially telling the same story at the same time is indicative of planning and planting a reason for wanting out of Toronto more than anything else. And from their side, hoping fans will buy this version of Marner, the $11-million a year, 100-point victim."Steve Simmons
This comes on the heels of Marner's TSN interview last week, where he highlighted the various threats he faced after that fateful Game 7 loss. The newest Golden Knights star didn't have the best experience leaving Toronto, highlighting a massive "torches and pitchforks" moment. But it also shows why the superstar winger was right (once again!) in taking his talents to Sin City.
What the latest comments say about Mitch Marner leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs for the Vegas Golden Knights
Now, I'm not endorsing Marner's comments in any capacity. I can't vouch for any of these comments and confirm that he's right in any form. However, stuff like this proves why the newest Golden Knights star was justified in his decision to leave Toronto (WARNING: NSFW).
buddy is more likely to get shot in Vegas than get yelled at by a fan at his house in Toronto.

Unhinged comments like this prove that Marner is justified in leaving the Maple Leafs. Fans have seen what happens when unhinged people get hold of a platform and go too far. When it's in the face of a prominent athlete, that's no different, specifically in today's climate.
Remember, athletes are humans like the rest of us. At the end of the day, they have families and friends that they love and cherish like everyone else. As mentioned, they can feel the threats coming in and don't feel like they're in the best spot.
Therefore, it's easy to see why Marner left for Las Vegas. The media market is much friendlier and accommodating to superstars of his caliber. You don't have to deal with the constant pressure of trying to lift a decades-long curse from their beleaguered franchise. Instead, you have a proven winner who's doing whatever it takes to add another Stanley Cup to its collection.
One bit of hope for Maple Leafs fans
But this one's for Maple Leafs fans. I get it. I get where you're coming from when it comes to constant heartbreak and torture. It can eat at your heart and mind, leaving you vulnerable.
And, yes. I'm guilty of engaging in past shenanigans myself and am deeply remorseful. Also, I'm certain not all Maple Leafs fans are cuckoo for cocoa puffs.
But know this. It could be much worse for you guys. You could live in Buffalo, where you're relegated to never seeing all of your teams win a championship.
