Alright, so I'm going to give you a full disclosure for this article. One of the dates WON'T be Opening Knight against the Chicago Blackhawks on September 29. I mean, that would be the most obvious game to pick, for starters.
Everyone's anticipating the hockey season to start and they need their rubbery-puck fix. What better way to do that than to start the season when the weather's cooling off and the pigskin's being kicked around? 'Tis the season to be watching hockey players hit each other and score on the ice.
This list also doesn't have any reunions with FORMER Golden Knights who moved on earlier than this summer. We're talking about the Nashville Predators not being on this list, along with the Seattle Kraken or the Washington Capitals. It doesn't even involve current Golden Knights facing their former teams, such as the Buffalo Sabres and the Toronto Maple Leafs (because those games would be better on the road).
Instead, this list will be slightly different. It tackles four games at T-Mobile Arena that will pique fans' interest during the season. It tackles rivalry games, rematches, and reunions with players traded during the summer. There you go. I think I might've spoiled the dates for you, but let's dive into the list, shall we?
1.) Carolina Hurricanes, December 21
The Stanley Cup Final rematch heads to T-Mobile Arena as the Golden Knights look to exact their revenge against the Carolina Hurricanes. The other rematch date will be one month later, on January 17 in Raleigh. Expect fireworks between both teams as they look to bring in more monster ratings.
2.) Edmonton Oilers, January 20
The premier Pacific Division rivalry will head to T-Mobile Arena on January 20. It's the expected battle between Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel, which could be for the divisional crown. Of course, fans can also see this game on April 2, which could carry bigger implications for the Pacific Division.
3.) Detroit Red Wings, February 15
Are you looking for a reunion game with Keegan Kolesar? Perhaps you want to scout Dylan Larkin a little more and see whether he'll fit in well with the Golden Knights or not? Look no further because the Red Wings will be in town on February 15. This will be the game that fans will see what the future—and the past—looks like.
4.) New York Rangers, March 13
This will be the other reunion game with Pavel Dorofeyev, who was traded by the Golden Knights on NHL Draft Day. Once again, it's a get-together with a former Golden Knight who held prominence with the team. This time, it involves the team's single-season franchise recordholder for the most power play goals in a single season.
