The Vegas Golden Knights are coming off a shootout win against the Tampa Bay Lightning and are now looking to get the win against the Buffalo Sabres tonight.
The Vegas Golden Knights are coming off a great win against the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Today, they meet at T-Mobile Stadium as they look to get back-to-back wins against the Buffalo Sabres.
This game means a lot for multiple reasons but let’s start with the big picture. The Vegas Golden Knights are currently in the lead for first place in the pacific division with 55 points. However, the Anaheim Ducks are right there with them in points which means that if the Knights can get the win tonight, they’d solidify that first seed.
The Second reason why this is a special game is former Vegas Golden Knights forwards, Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs, are returning to T-Mobile.
Alex Tuch was a special player for the Vegas Golden Knights and is going to be a great player in this league for years to come. However, that’s not what makes this return so special. It’s special because what he did for the community.
If he had time to work with the fans in the community and volunteer, he did. He was a great person on the ice, and a better person off the ice. Seeing him return is going to be a heartfelt welcome back.
As for Peyton Krebs, his return won’t be as significant for Knights fans, but I’m sure he’ll still receive a nice welcome back as well. Krebs was the Vegas Golden Knights’ top prospect before getting traded to Buffalo in October so we could acquire Jack Eichel.
Anyways, the Knights are back tonight and ready to get the win against the Buffalo Sabres. Now, although in theory this game should be easy, it’s not going to be. With Tuch and Krebs looking for revenge, and the fact that the Sabres aren’t actually as bad as one may think, this will be a competitive game.
Anyways, let’s take a look at what the lineup’s could look like tonight.
Offense
Max Pacioretty-Nolan Patrick-Mark Stone
Jonathan Marchessault-William Karlsson-Reilly Smith
Mattias Janmark-Nicolas Roy-Evgenii Dadonov
William Carrier-Brett Howden-Michael Amadio
Defense
Ben Hutton-Alex Pietrangelo
Brayden McNabb-Shea Theodore
Daniil Miromanov-Dylan Coghlan
Goalies
Robin Lehner
Laurent Brossoit
The Vegas Golden Knights will be without Zach Whitecloud and possibly Nicolas Hague tonight. With no further update on Alec Martinez, it’s safe to assume that the defenseman will remain out past the all-star break. It’s possible he could return tonight, but unlikely.
The Vegas Golden Knights can’t take this game for granite otherwise it will end in a loss. The Sabres know they can play at this level, which means the Knights are going to have to be on their A game tonight in order to pull this one off.
