Let’s go over some notes from the game:

  • The Vegas Golden Knights are now 37-23-8 on the year and 22-11-4 at T-Mobile Arena after shutting out the New Jersey Devils.
  • Furthermore, the Golden Knights boast a five-point lead over third-place Calgary Flames, although the Edmonton Oilers are two points behind with a game in-hand.
  • In other words, the Pacific Division remains as tight as ever and it should go right down to the wire.
  • This was a real accomplished and professional performance by the Golden Knights who stayed patience and landed fatal blows at just the right moments.
  • This was also an important win following the tough loss to the LA Kings on Sunday, and the Knights have now won nine out of their last 10 contests.
  • We are in a crucial period of the regular season right now and the Golden Knights have the Pacific Division in their grip if they can maintain their current pace.
  • It was quite a night for Robin Lehner who secured his first shutout as a member of the Vegas Golden Knights. He stopped all 27 shots fired at him and made some big stops, including a sublime glove save to absolutely rob Travis Zajac.
  • Lehner is now 2-0-0 in his first two starts with the Golden Knights with a .967 Save Percentage and a 1.00 Goals Against Average.
  • Nicolas Roy was reassigned to the Chicago Wolves in the wake of the game, along with Brandon Pirri, and this was the 25th time this year that Roy has been assigned or reassigned. This is just a cap saving move, however, ahead of Alex Tuch coming off the LTIR.
  • Max Pacioretty recorded a two-point night, including his 31st goal of the year, and the forward now leads the Golden Knights in points with 65 points in 68 games.
  • William Karlsson also registered a two-point night, the highlight being scoring the 100th goal of his NHL career.
  • But Karlsson’s primary helper on Pacioretty’s goal will be shown over and over. It was a sublime no-look pass with the backhand, and Karlsson now has 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) on the year.
  • Nicolas Roy has really impressed while playing on a second line with Max Pacioretty and Tomas Nosek, and he recorded his 5th assist of the year with a nice feed to Karlsson.
  • Ryan Reaves tallied his eighth goal of the year with William Carrier and Tomas Nosek claiming the assists on that goal as the fourth line continues to produce.
  • The Golden Knights face a real defining slate of games in March, including six divisional matchups, and this was a nice way to start the month after a tough loss to the LA Kings on Sunday.
  • Nikita Gusev has been impressive for the New Jersey Devils since being traded by the Vegas Golden Knights in the off-season, ranking second on the Devils in points with 42 (12 goals, 30 assists). However, the Russian stud was unable to exact some revenge on the Knights at T-Mobile Arena last night after being held without a point.
  • Vegas won 57% of their draws but were outhit 25-14 by the Devils, while they also blocked 15 shots to New Jersey’s 17.
  • Speaking of blocked shots, Zach Whitecloud blocked two shots in quick succession in the third period and went down the tunnel in some discomfort, although there is no official update on his condition.
  • The Golden Knights went a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill although they couldn’t convert on their one and only power play opportunity.
  • Alec Martinez led all Vegas Golden Knights skaters in total ice time with 23:27 minutes, including 2:02 minutes of shorthanded time.
